The archaeologists found about 900 artifacts of medieval Moscow in XVII century wooden bridge in Zaryadye

Wooden pavement of the seventeenth century, which marks the route known from historic plans curve lane found during archaeological excavations in the Eastern part of Zaryadye, where the site of the demolished hotel “Russia” Park is under construction. About it has informed journalists the General Director of LLC “Capital archaeological Bureau” Konstantin Voronin.

According to him, on the pavement, archaeologists found about 900 artifacts which attest the trade and the everyday life of the medieval Moscow.

“The development of this place started in the XVI century and so most of the findings related to the XVI century, but mainly from the XVII century. All in all we have about 900 pieces. This extraordinary cultural richness of the remnants of the layers of Zaryadye. We get about 10 individual finds on 1 sq m of excavation. That’s a lot,” said K. Voronin.

In particular, on the pavement have found a Swedish coin, fragments of the score and wrote – these findings say about active trading in the area, including foreign countries. In addition, in the area of the curve lane was found a fragment of metal chain mail, which, according to experts, suggests that they were inhabited by professional soldiers and wealthy people. In the cave of the Altai Terrible found a 50-year-old human remains

Scientists of Novosibirsk state University (NSU) and the Institute of archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian branch of the RAS during the archeological excavations found in Scary cave (Altai territory), the human remains relating to the period 35-50 thousand years ago.

Anthropologists believe that the discovery will help to shed light on the interaction of modern humans, the Neanderthal and Denisova on the territory of Altai.

Previously in sediments of this age are found only stone tools, analyzing them, one could only make assumptions about the companions of the cave. Found bone remains have yet to explore in the laboratory. These findings can both confirm existing theories of the origin of humans and to force scientists to adjust them.

About the first results of the expedition in the press release, NSU said Andrey Krivoshapkin, doctor of historical Sciences, head of chair of archeology and Ethnography of humanitarian faculty of NSU.

“This year has been good for archaeologists, said Krivoshapkin. — In the course of excavations in the Pleistocene layers of the cave of Terrible managed to find new anthropological materials. In the layers related to the age of 35-40 thousand years ago, was discovered a fragment of a nail phalanx of a person, below is a fragment of the skull, below the rib fragment, presumably, tangerinedream man, but it remains to be seen in laboratory tests. Elusive breath of the Millennium: the archaeological excavation

Rich land of Cherkasy region the mysteries of centuries that hides in the depths of their lands. Especially those that date from 4-6 millennia BC. Cell Trypillya settlements, which are a unique phenomenon of the era, not so long ago were opened in the Talne district, Cherkasy region, has already caused a considerable resonance among the scientific community.

September 10, staff of Uman national University of horticulture visited the excavations at the largest settlements of Trypillya culture in S. Talanki, which is one of structural divisions of the University – Malenkovskaya agrotechnical College. From the words of the archaeologists who work here, students and staff of the mentioned College are actively involved not only in the organization of the excavation, but also promote the holding of international conferences and symposiums on archaeology.

On the excavations of Trypillian settlements near S. Talanki dealt with by the Institute of archaeology of NAS of Ukraine, working archaeologists of Germany (in addition to excavations, doing Geophysics and valeology), and also involved students from the cities of Kiev, Vinnitsa and Uman. For young researchers it is not just manufacturing practices, and above all a unique opportunity to touch rare, filled with the memory of centuries of things that were before time hidden from the human eye layers of the soil.

With slivnik project on the study of settlements-the giants of Tripoli culture, scientific Secretary of the Institute of archaeology of NAS of Ukraine, candidate of historical Sciences Alexey Corwin-Piotrowski, thanks to geophysical survey in sec. Talianki was found the largest Trypillian settlement in Europe. Its age reaches 5.5 thousand years in ancient times, and the number of residents numbered around 14 thousand people. Continue reading
