Archaeological finds in the fortress Borovskoy

Glory and pride Perovskogo district — the ancient fortress with time has to be restored. Currently on the territory of the fortress archaeological excavations are carried out. According to their results, the specialists will create a restoration project.

Fortress Borovichi wanted to restore for a long time, however, forces the district to address the issue is unrealistic. In the field, and even in Moscow, where support for the applied Museum workers, local historians and other interested residents to help were not taken. At all levels sounded the same answer: no money. But the case was moved from a dead point. Until allocated funds only for the restoration project, reports Pskov News line.

The tender for the works won the St. Petersburg company CJSC “First Peterhof restoration studios”. To create the project, required archaeological excavations. Together with the archaeological center of the Pskov region the studies conducted by scientific staff of the St. Petersburg Institute of history of material culture Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Popov and Zoya Rumyantsev.

Already revealed early walls of the fortress, discovered, photographed, sketched and described the first finds, mostly fragments of bones of domestic animals, fragments of clay pots and ceramic ware. It would seem that negoitiating. But actually they represent some value. For example, the bones can to understand what domestic animals were held in their backyards, the residents of medieval Porkhov, and pottery shards to discover what they ate and drank by our ancestors. Mostly the finds date back to the XV-XVI centuries. More precisely, scientists say after a deeper research in specialized laboratories Pskov and St. Petersburg.

There were unique findings: the Cannonball, an object that looked like a mouthpiece, and other bone lakonika. Rakosnik is something like a hair clip, a device that allows you to secure the feminine braid. It is possible that he belonged to a wealthy borovicka.

Found materials will be transferred to Pskov. After careful analysis they will be back in Porkhov, but as exhibits. Importantly, no shard, no the bone will not be lost.
