Colombia – the Archeological heritage

The earliest discovered traces of human presence are 15-12 BC First pottery refers to the line 4-3 thousand BC and the beginning of processing of metals – the second half of the 1st Millennium BC To early centuries ad there lived the tribes of the chibcha-Moscow, the Caribbean, etc.

Unfortunately, the culture of the Colombian Indians is not well studied how the culture of the Peruvian, Mexican or aboriginal. When it comes to pre-Columbian America, just remember the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Incas, but somehow overshadowed by the fact that in the Americas there were other native American peoples and culture, which left an amazing historical sites and mysterious legends.

In Colombia found evidence of a variety of ancient civilizations. This and the stone statues in the archaeological Park on the outskirts of San agustín (Department of Huila), and underground vaults of the pre-Columbian era: Alto del Aguacate, Alto de San Andres, Alto de Segovia, Alto del Duende, El Tablon in the national archaeological Park of Tierradentro (Department of Cauca), and the Lost city (Ciudad perdida – the Department of Magdalena), and the city of Tumaco (Department of nariño), famous for the numerous archaeological finds of great historical and artistic value. All arheologicheskaya are samples of cultural heritage of different sub-clans Chibchas.

San Agustin and Tierradentro declared a world heritage by UNESCO, the Lost city is a Sacred place, unique in natural-historical terms.

In San Agustin is the largest in South America, the ensemble of ancient monuments and megalithic sculptures in a beautiful natural landscape. The pagan gods and mythical animals are widely represented in a variety of styles – from abstraction to realism. These works of art testify to the high creative potential of culture, spread in the Northern Andes in the I-VIII centuries.

A lot of scientific debate is around the San alushtinskoj culture, named after the town of San Agustin in the upper reaches of the river Magdalena. This culture emerged in the V century BC and existed for a thousand years, with its great megalithic monuments (shrines, bas-reliefs, stelae, statues etc.) occur throughout the southern part of the mountain of Colombia. The magnitude of the impact, the level of development and the Dating of civilization divisive; consider whether the culture of the autochthonous (local) or brought from outside, like the culture Tumaco? There is a point of view, considering San augustinsky culture of the ancient “original culture” of America, which then evolved culture of the Andes, Mexico and Central America.

Leave a strong impression of the underground necropolis related to the culture of tierradentro (in Spanish- “inner earth”). In the mountain knot UNED de Pasto preserved the true masterpieces of ancient Indian architecture and mural paintings. A high level of development and identity are different and other ancient Indian cultures of Colombia: chocó and Kalima (Pacific coast), sinú and Tayrona (Picaresca area), Quimbaya and Piha (Magdalena river valley), guane and the chibcha-muisca (Eastern Cordillera).
