Karelian archeologists have found a settlement of Ancient Egypt and the stone labyrinth
At the end of August on the shores of the White sea near the village of Ceret on the area of about one hectare were discovered and partially excavated the remains of large dwellings of ancient humans, arranged in three lines of 20, 10 and 5-6 poluzemlyanok. One of them consists of 12 “rooms”. In another, archaeologists have excavated a hearth, ceramics and made of slate tip hunting Darts.
At the conclusion of a scientific expedition leader Nadezhda Lobanova, a settlement dated to the early metal age, about five thousand years is the emergence of the civilizations of Ancient Egypt and Sumer. In the primitive city, as he was called archaeologists, spent the winter hunting sea mammals.
— Pits — traces of dwellings of ancient man — we were informed last year a local historian Yury Rybakov. In October, we came here and made sure that there is something to do holes like the ones that we previously examined in Smotrova — told us Nadezhda Lobanova. — We received this research grant of the Russian geographical society in the summer and went to explore Carlsberg. What we found at kereti exceeded all our expectations. It is a pity that time we had quite a few. I think that in future seasons (of course, in case of receiving a new grant), we expect new amazing discoveries.
However, the town where lived the contemporaries of the Egyptian pharaohs, was not the only discovery of this expedition. A new discovery awaited the archaeologists in Ivankovo tone, one kilometer from the ancient settlement. Yuri Rybakov drew attention to the fact that the moss-covered stones near the sea shore as if form a circular shape. The result was a round maze with a diameter of 11 meters, which is three meters above sea level.
At the conclusion Lobanova, this monument to the ancient settlement has nothing to do: the approximate age of the finds — the reign of Peter, the end of XVII-beginning of XVIII century. It is known that fishing at Ivankovo tone at this time already existed, which seems to be an assumption about the purpose of commercial discoveries.
— Who built the maze? Well, certainly not the Sami to their culture such buildings generally are not typical, and they did not work in the Maritime industry. And then, in those days, there were the Pomors hunted the old believers, and it is unlikely they would tolerate in their homes some of the attributes of paganism, — says Nadezhda Lobanova.
— Of course, this archaeological event of the Russian value — appreciated the scientific results of the expedition. At least the last half-century such mazes in the country is not found. Moreover, the settlement of the inhabitants of the third Millennium BC we don’t come across every day.
In the world there are several hundred stone circles of different configurations, including 300 in Sweden, 140 in Finland, 40 in Russia, mainly on the Islands of the White sea. Opened in Karelia expedition Lobanova and Rybakov is only the fourth such in the Republic.
On the origin of labyrinths, their purpose and the builders of these mysterious structures among researchers there are many versions, but the secrets of these stone circles still and did not open science.
