Elusive breath of the Millennium: the archaeological excavation
Rich land of Cherkasy region the mysteries of centuries that hides in the depths of their lands. Especially those that date from 4-6 millennia BC. Cell Trypillya settlements, which are a unique phenomenon of the era, not so long ago were opened in the Talne district, Cherkasy region, has already caused a considerable resonance among the scientific community.
September 10, staff of Uman national University of horticulture visited the excavations at the largest settlements of Trypillya culture in S. Talanki, which is one of structural divisions of the University – Malenkovskaya agrotechnical College. From the words of the archaeologists who work here, students and staff of the mentioned College are actively involved not only in the organization of the excavation, but also promote the holding of international conferences and symposiums on archaeology.
On the excavations of Trypillian settlements near S. Talanki dealt with by the Institute of archaeology of NAS of Ukraine, working archaeologists of Germany (in addition to excavations, doing Geophysics and valeology), and also involved students from the cities of Kiev, Vinnitsa and Uman. For young researchers it is not just manufacturing practices, and above all a unique opportunity to touch rare, filled with the memory of centuries of things that were before time hidden from the human eye layers of the soil.
With slivnik project on the study of settlements-the giants of Tripoli culture, scientific Secretary of the Institute of archaeology of NAS of Ukraine, candidate of historical Sciences Alexey Corwin-Piotrowski, thanks to geophysical survey in sec. Talianki was found the largest Trypillian settlement in Europe. Its age reaches 5.5 thousand years in ancient times, and the number of residents numbered around 14 thousand people.
The Trypillians, as nowhere else in Europe, was widely developed in residential architecture. Each of the dwellings is two-storey building: ground floor – utility room, second living room. It was mandatory to have the oven (without chaff), the altar and the workplace (grinders). In the village of Talianki for the first time in 120 years the excavations the archeologists found the most common odnosov furnace. One of these furnaces that have been preserved, archaeologists are planning to move to the Museum “Tripoli culture”, which is located in the village Lehedzyne.
In settlements stands out clearly dense group arrangement of houses, which is typical for the commune way of life; 40 communities of a few families United in the tribe.
Each settlement was situated in one place for about 50 years. Then the inhabitants moved to the new location. This was due to the depletion of the earth around the settlement and deforestation.
Obliczenie settlements were burned. It was a kind of ritual, during which was exhibited the dishes for the ancestors. These big ashes archeologists find many painted vessels, figurines, burned grain and animal bones, and sometimes even the remains of skeletons of people-Trypillians.
The famous Tripoli culture, or rather civilization, has left distinct traces. Just have to find them and continue to guide its development, because they are the cultural heritage of our nation and of all mankind. The monuments of Tripoli culture deserve for their preservation and careful study, because such a testimony of our ancient glorious history contributes to a better knowledge of themselves and improve the current development for a better future.
