September 10, staff of Uman national University of horticulture visited the excavations at the largest settlements of Trypillya culture in S. Talanki, which is one of structural divisions of the University – Malenkovskaya agrotechnical College. From the words of the archaeologists who work here, students and staff of the mentioned College are actively involved not only in the organization of the excavation, but also promote the holding of international conferences and symposiums on archaeology.

Talianki was found the largest Trypillian settlement in Europe. Its age reaches 5.5 thousand years in ancient times, and the number of residents numbered around 14 thousand people.

The Trypillians, as nowhere else in Europe, was widely developed in residential architecture. Each of the dwellings is two-storey building: ground floor – utility room, second living room. It was mandatory to have the oven (without chaff), the altar and the workplace (grinders). One of these furnaces that have been preserved, archaeologists are planning to move to the Museum “Tripoli culture”, which is located in the village Lehedzyne.

In settlements stands out clearly dense group arrangement of houses, which is typical for the commune way of life; 40 communities of a few families United in the tribe.

Each settlement was situated in one place for about 50 years. Then the inhabitants moved to the new location. This was due to the depletion of the earth around the settlement and deforestation.

Obliczenie settlements were burned. It was a kind of ritual, during which was exhibited the dishes for the ancestors. These big ashes archeologists find many painted vessels, figurines, burned grain and animal bones, and sometimes even the remains of skeletons of people-Trypillians.
